

Outside of a Black Canary solo film that reportedly still remains in development, there are no confirmed plans to follow the Birds in the DC Universe - but that could all change under the new tenure of DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

moving forward with (and then shelving) an entire solo movie surrounding one of the Birds' other founding members, Barbara Gordon / Batgirl (Leslie Grace). Of course, the DC landscape has changed a lot since Birds of Prey's debut, with Warner Bros. By the film's end, the trio had decided to officially form the Birds of Prey, with the goal of taking down the corruption and crime in Gotham City themselves. Three of the group's comic-accurate members, Dinah Lance / Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett), Helena Bertinelli / Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) were all introduced across Harley's wild adventure. The film, which followed the ongoing adventures of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) in between Suicide Squad movies, also served as a cinematic gateway for some beloved DC heroines. It has been nearly three years since Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) initially graced movie screens. Birds of Prey refers to a supposed culture war between Sonic the Hedgehog fans and Birds of Prey fans wherein the latter allegedly launched a campaign to try and hinder the former's box office performance and journalists were allegedly disappointed that Sonic proved more popular on its opening weekend than Birds of Prey.
